Hi Everyone:
Welcome to Richard Bond Racing, my Motorsport WEB site that contains updates and news on my racing career. Comments, pictures and donations are very welcome! Contact me anytime… rich@richardbond.co.uk.
An old friend used to say…”Don’t clap, throw money..!” and in Motorsport its true.
I started Kart racing in 1998 at the age of 9 and was hooked from the very first time I sat in a race Kart. Raced for 2 years at local clubs then moved to Formula TKM in 2001, Kimbolton is my local circuit, but Whilton Mill and PFI are also close by, Buckmore is also a popular circuit for me.
2002 in Formula TKM Juniors at Kimbolton produced a top 10 result for the club championship, followed by runner up spot during 2003 and had first year in ABkC Super 1 British National championship.
Formula TKM Intermediate in 2004 produced a championship third place in the ABkC Super 1 British Nationals, with two outright wins in Round 1 (Buckmore) and Round 6 (Whilton Mill), but luck was not with me during the summer with an engine blowing up at Kimbolton and some unexpected shunts, that left the total points slightly low.!!
During 2004 I also attended the Formula BMW 2-day license course in Valencia, Spain run by BMW-Motorsport and was selected to go back for a second visit for the scholarship shoot-out between the final 16 selected drivers. Came 6th and was given a reserve scholarship, so missed by one! The course is fantastic (so is the location and weather) and I would recommend it to anyone interested in moving from karts to cars, all credit to BMW Motorsport for their effort in putting this together. Oh and the cars are awesome! Oh and the sea is warm!
2005 will probably be our final year in Formula TKM / karts and we have moved up to the extreme / senior class for the ABkC Super 1 British National challenge again. This time I am wearing my lucky socks!!
2006 will most likely be Formula BMW, Renault or Ford, and a scholarship would definitely help.
See you in my rear view mirror…
